  • How does your pricing work?
I believe in transparent pricing that reflects the time, expertise, and product required for each service. My pricing structure is based on several factors, including: Time needed for the service: More complex services or those that take longer will have a higher cost. Amount of product used: Services like colour treatments may require more product, which will influence the price. Advanced techniques: Some services, such as Balayage or Keratin Treatments, require special skills, and this is reflected in the price. For a detailed breakdown of the pricing for each service, I encourage you to check out my pricing menu on the website. If you’re unsure or have any questions about specific services or costs, feel free to contact me, and I’d be happy to provide more information!
  • Do you work with all hair types?
Yes, I work with all hair types and take pride in offering tailored services for each individual. Whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, or Afro-textured, I have the experience and expertise to ensure the best results for your unique hair needs. Each hair type requires specific techniques and care to achieve the desired look while maintaining hair health. I have years of experience working with a wide range of textures, from managing the curl pattern of Afro-textured hair to creating sleek and smooth styles for straighter hair types. Whether it's a colour service, cut, or styling, I customize every treatment to suit your hair type and ensure you leave feeling confident and beautiful. I’m passionate about making every client feel comfortable, and I understand that different hair textures require different approaches. So, rest assured that no matter your hair type, I’ve got you covered!
  • What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
I understand that plans change. Please give me at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This helps me accommodate other clients.
  • Is your service cheap?
While I will not be the cheapest option, my pricing reflects the high-quality service and experience that comes with it. I am a multi-award-winning stylist, having been recognized with several UK British Hairdressing Awards and Well Trend Vision Awards. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, I have had the privilege of working with celebrities and was honoured to be the annual hairstylist for the ITV TV Awards Ceremony. I now often sit on the panel for industry awards, which reflects the level of trust and respect I’ve earned within the hairdressing community. Many of my clients come to me after experiencing cheaper services elsewhere and often need corrections or improvements to their hair. While cheaper options are available, the quality, expertise, and attention to detail I provide make all the difference. My goal is to ensure that you leave with beautiful, lasting results that leave you feeling confident and satisfied.
  • Do I need a skin test?
Yes, a skin test is required 48 hours prior to any colour service. Even if you've never experienced an allergic reaction to hair dye before, it’s important to have this test. Your skin can react to an ingredient that it’s never been exposed to, and it's always better to be safe. Certain factors can increase the likelihood of an allergic reaction, such as recently having a tattoo, being pregnant, undergoing hormonal changes, or having recently been ill (such as from COVID-19). A skin test helps identify any potential sensitivities so that we can proceed with your colour service safely. The skin test is a simple and quick procedure that ensures your safety and allows me to tailor the service to your needs, giving you peace of mind before the full treatment.
  • Do I need a strand test?
Yes, a strand test is highly recommended, especially before lightening services. A strand test involves taking a small sample of your hair and testing it with the required colour to see how your hair will respond. This helps ensure the integrity of your hair is strong enough to handle the process. A strand test is crucial if you’ve previously used home hair dyes, as many box dyes contain metallic salts that can be harmful to your hair. These salts may not cause immediate damage, but when lightening is applied, they can react with the chemicals and lead to catastrophic results. A strand test helps identify these potential issues before they affect your whole head of hair, ensuring that the outcome is safe and successful. Ultimately, the strand test allows me to customise the service to your hair’s needs, ensuring the best possible results without compromising its health.
  • Should I wash my hair before having a colour done?
It’s generally recommended to have 2nd day hair before a colouring service. This is because freshly washed hair can leave the scalp feeling too exposed, which may result in a tingling sensation during the colour process. On the other hand, if you haven’t washed your hair for several days, excess oil and product build-up can affect the evenness of the colour, leading to less predictable results. However, everyone’s hair produces oils at different rates, so this is just a general recommendation. If you prefer to wash your hair the day of your appointment, or if you have specific concerns, just let me know, and we can adjust accordingly!
  • Can I have a colour if I’ve got a sensitive scalp?
Yes, you can still have colour if you have a sensitive scalp, as long as your patch test shows no allergic reaction. If you pass the patch test, you’re good to go! To make the service more comfortable, I take extra steps, such as applying a scalp lotion before colouring to protect and soothe the scalp, and using a calming, sensitive shampoo after the colour is applied. If you do have a reaction to your patch test, there are still options available. Techniques like foil or freehand applications are used where the colour doesn’t touch the scalp, reducing the chance of irritation. Additionally, Wella offers a range of colour masks that are suitable for all skin and hair types, ensuring a safe and gentle experience without causing any reactions. Your comfort and safety are my top priorities, and I’ll always work with you to find the best solution.
  • Does your hair change during and after pregnancy?
Yes, it does! During pregnancy, many women experience an increase in hair thickness, a more vibrant, glossy appearance, and even a change in hair colour—often becoming darker. This is due to the hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, which can lead to healthier, fuller hair. However, after giving birth, especially if you're breastfeeding, the enhanced hair density can last a little longer. Once breastfeeding stops, that's when the shedding typically begins. This is the stage when your body releases the extra hair that was held on to during pregnancy, and it can be a difficult phase for many women. To support your hair through this transition, I highly recommend taking hair supplements like Glowwa Hair Food and using the Nioxin 3-part system kit. This kit includes a shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment that work together to nourish and promote healthier hair. From personal experience, I’ve seen a significant difference between women who choose to incorporate these treatments and those who don’t.
  • Can I have my hair colour whilst pregnant?
Yes, you can still colour your hair while pregnant, but it’s important to take a few precautions. It’s generally recommended to wait until after the first trimester before colouring your hair. This is because the first trimester is a crucial time for your baby’s development, and it’s always best to err on the side of caution. In addition, it’s essential to have a new skin test done before each coloring session. Pregnancy causes hormonal changes that can affect your body’s reaction to hair colour products, sometimes leading to allergic reactions or increased sensitivity. A skin test will help determine if the products are safe for you at that time. For extra peace of mind, you might also want to consider using ammonia-free hair dyes or opting for highlights instead of full colour, as these methods avoid direct contact with the scalp. As always, it’s a good idea to consult your doctor or healthcare provider if you have any concerns about hair treatments during pregnancy.
  • How Does Pregnancy Affect My Hair?
During pregnancy, many women experience thicker, shinier, and healthier-looking hair. This is due to hormonal changes that extend the growth phase of your hair, leading to less shedding and more volume. Some women may also notice their hair becoming darker, as the hormonal shifts can alter pigmentation. However, the impact can vary – while some see fuller hair, others may experience dryness or oiliness.
  • Why Does My Hair Shed After Pregnancy?
Hair shedding after pregnancy, often referred to as postpartum hair loss, is a common experience. After childbirth, hormonal levels begin to adjust, and the hair that was retained during pregnancy enters a shedding phase. This can be a stressful time for many women, but it’s important to remember that it’s a temporary condition. Most women see their hair return to its normal growth cycle within 6 to 12 months.
  • Do You Offer Consultations?

During our time together, we’ll chat about your hair history, current concerns, and any specific needs you have. It’s a relaxed, pressure-free session where you can ask any questions, get advice, and understand the process before committing to your full appointment. The consultation also helps me determine the amount of time needed for your appointment and ensure that I can provide the best possible experience.
