Curly and coily hair is beautifully unique—and it thrives when cared for with moisture, gentle techniques, and protective habits. Here’s a simple weekly ritual to help your curls stay healthy, defined, and full of life.

1. Cleanse (1x per week)

Healthy curls start with a clean foundation—but without stripping moisture.

Double Cleanse:Start with a first shampoo to remove product buildup, followed by a second shampoo to cleanse the scalp.Try:

  • Mielle Pomegranate & Honey Moisturizing Shampoo – ideal for thick, curly textures. The rich lather gently clarifies while keeping hair soft.

Prefer a gentler cleanse?Try co-washing (conditioner-only wash) in between shampoos to maintain moisture and refresh your curls without over-cleansing.

  • Mielle Detangling Co-Wash is a great option for nourishing the hair and easing tangles.

2. Deep Condition (1x per week)

Hydration is key to definition and strength.Try:

  • Mielle Babassu & Mint Deep Conditioner – this moisture-protein balanced mask helps strengthen curls and restore softness.

  • Apply to towel-dried hair and leave in for at least 20 minutes with a shower cap for maximum absorption.

3. Detangle with Care

Only detangle when your hair is wet and saturated with conditioner.Use:

  • A wide-tooth comb or detangling brush designed for textured hair.

  • Work from the ends up to avoid breakage.

4. Midweek Curl Refresh

Bring your curls back to life between washes.Try:

  • Mielle Pomegranate & Honey Curl Refreshing Spray – great for redefining curls and adding light moisture without weighing hair down.

  • Mist, scrunch, and air dry or diffuse.

5. Scalp Care (1x per week)

A healthy scalp supports healthy hair growth.Try:

  • Massage a mix of rosemary and castor oil into your scalp weekly.

  • Leave on for a few hours or overnight before your next wash day.

6. Night-Time Protection

Protect your curls while you sleep:

  • Use a satin bonnet or silk pillowcase to reduce friction and retain moisture.

  • Pineapple or loosely braid your hair to prevent tangling.

Caring for curls takes consistency—but your routine should feel like self-care, not a chore. Want help building a ritual that works for you? Let’s chat at your next appointment.
